School & Community The Collingswood Sunrise Program is a distinct alliance between the Borough of Collingswood, the Collingswood School Board, the Collingswood Police Department, and Genesis Centers. The purpose of the alliance is to help children and adolescents, who attend the seven Collingswood public and private schools, receive counseling for whatever situation may arise. It is important that these children receive the attention needed so the problem can be dealt with before it becomes unmanageable. Once a child has been referred for counseling, the community as a whole will pay for the initial assessment and the first few sessions in order get a good picture of what the presenting problem might be. Parents are invited and strongly encouraged to attend the session so that the whole family could benefit from the interaction. It is common and very gratifying to see a police officer walk a young
man into the office to see about help before the problem becomes larger
and it is commonplace to have the school refer a student who could be
on the verge of being suspended. In many cases in lieu of suspension,
counseling is offered and the young person returns to school feeling on
top of the problem rather then angry about the punishment. Whether
it is a drug or alcohol problem, acting out, bullying, or a home problem,
counseling can relieve the tension and life can move forward. For More Information For more information about the Sunrise Program and other programs available... Please contact us at Program Development For more about custom programs like these for government,
