Frequently Asked
Questions Q What is Genesis? A Genesis is a private,
non-profit agency offering Mental Health and Drug/Alcohol counseling programs
and services for all ages from child to Senior Citizen. Q What do Services Cost? A The initial intake
fee is $70. For individual counseling services, a sliding fee scale is
offered based on income. We accept many insurances (see insurances) as
well as have some grant funding for those who qualify. Q When can I begin the process? A As soon as you call
for an appointment, Genesis makes all efforts to get you in as quickly
as possible for an initial assessment. Q Who will be my counselor? A Part of the reason
for an initial assessment is so that we can obtain information needed
to assign you to the best suited counselor for your needs. This process
takes approximately 5-7 days from the time of intake. That counselor will
contact you to set up your next appointment. Q What are the credentials of Genesis Staff? A Genesis makes sure
that all counselors meet requirements that are upheld by the State of
New Jersey under licensure standards. All Mental Health counselors have
a minimum of a Masters Degree and most are licensed social workers. All
addiction counselors are required at minimum to be working toward CADC
(Intern) and many are already CADC certified. Any counselors that are
not licensed must have a certain experience level to work at Genesis –
we only accept those that have a proven history of success and clinical
quality. Q What if I am not happy with my assigned counselor? A If you are not happy
with your counselor, then please let our Mental Health Supervisor or Director
of Clinical Operations know, so that they can ensure that you will be
reassigned to someone you are more comfortable with. Genesis wants to
make sure your needs are being met and makes that our priority when assigning
or reassigning counselors. Q How long must I attend counseling? A Each case varies on
length of time needed for treatment, this would be worked out between
you and your assigned counselor. Q What does Genesis do to protect my privacy? A Genesis is required
to be HIPAA compliant and goes above and beyond standards for keeping
everything confidential. No one can talk about your case unless a release
is signed, except for certain issues dealing with child abuse and other
situations where federal and state law and guidelines apply. Q How long does the initial assessment take? A The initial assessment
takes about an hour, during that time all background information is taken.
