Comprehensive Adjustment Program (CAP)

The Comprehensive Adjustment Program (C.A.P) receives referrals from the Camden City School district, Camden County, DYFS, Camden County Juvenile Drug Court, Camden County Juvenile Probation, and Southern Regional Aftercare Parole Office of the Juvenile Justice Commission. The C.A.P. Program provides adolescent males and females, ages 14 to 18, a highly structured comprehensive, traditional day reporting program. The program consists of alternative high school education, life skills training, job readiness training, linkage to community service individuals and group substance abuse counseling, and anger management coping skills.

It is the mission of the Comprehensive Adjustment Program, C.A.P., to provide these adolescents with the necessary support system to guide them through the difficult challenges of remaining crime and substance abuse free, while also directing them to transition from family turmoil, problems adjusting to the structure of the school environment, substance use problems, poor decision making , and from the most restrictive environment of the Juvenile Detention Center, back to their communities.

CAP has demonstrated that it is most effective, reduces offense rates, and has increased high school graduation rates among a juvenile population that historically and realistically has little to no chance of completing a high school education.
